Cradle to Cradle NGO

Reference: Cradle to Cradle – Wiege zur Wiege e.V., Hamburg

A precursor to the official founding of this NGO was organization of the Cradle to Cradle festival in Berlin in 2011 over many months. C2C-inspired companies presented themselves and various events were organized including speeches, presentations, and concerts as well as fashion shows.

The C2C innovation concept aims to design and optimise products which are beneficial without waste. All materials go back into biological or technical circles and can be reused at the same quality. Production processes are optimized in a healthy and positive way.

The Cradle to Cradle – Wiege zur Wiege association supports key elements of the Cradle to Cradle principles via educational work and public relations.

Technical University Hamburg-Harburg

Monika Griefahn as a guest lecturer at the Technical University Hamburg-Harburg in the seminar "Environmental Policies and Sustainability"

2012-2019 Monika Griefahn was lecturer at the Technical University Hamburg-Harburg. She offered  seminars on “Environmental policies and Sustainability”. The majority of students have studied engineering with different focusses. Seminars like ours “look beyond your own nose”. We are convinced that engineers, who become future developers of sustainable products, have to be able to judge things from the viewpoint of politicians or NGOs.

We supported political education for Egyptian women in Cairo.

Synthetic fuels are one of the decisive factors for the energy transition away from fossile fuels. That is why I am committed to the further development and practical use of eFuels and became a member of the Sounding Board of the eFuel Alliance in May 2021.

Climate committee

Constituent session: Photo: City of Buchholz / Helms

Until 2025 I was chairwoman of the advisory board of the climate committee at my former place of residence in Buchholz in the Nordheide. The city has set itself the goal of becoming climate neutral and there is still a lot to do to achieve this. The committee advises the municipal  administration on fundamental questions of climate policy.
